Vibratory Finishing Services

Ideal for metal parts, Vibratory finishing is a highly effective method MFJSA members provide for removing rough edges, impurities, and imperfections on the parts. Parts are processed in a bowl (or tub) with pellet shaped media. When the bowl is activated, the media and parts rub against each other resulting in the desired outcome.

Shot Blasting/Shot Peening Services

Parts sometimes get corroded or develop scaly surfaces, which must be removed before coatings are applied. With Shot blasting, centrifugal wheel blast or high-pressure compressed air is used to project steel shot onto the surface of the part to perform cleaning or finishing.

Like shot blasting, shot peening is used to reduce metal fatigue. With shot peening, specially designed equipment blasts specified shot or cut wire, causing beneficial stress relief on the surfaces. Think of it like a ball-peen hammer: depending on the shot size, when it strikes metal the resulting compression beneficial stress will determine the depth of the peening on the object's surface.

Abrasive Blast Finishing Services

Abrasive blasting, AKA sand blasting or bead blasting, allows the job shop to clean and finish using just one process-saving the customer time and money. With abrasive blasting, high-pressure compressed air is used to project a medium onto the surface of the part to clean, polish, or finish, allowing for increased surface adhesion of the coating.
